Wellington Crescent Update

Wellington Crescent Update

Making Wellington Crescent safer for all

After resident feedback and data from last year’s Covid program, the need to improve the safe use of streets for all is clear. Therefore, safety improvements for Wellington Crescent were passed by Council on April 28, 2022.

Here is what is happening on Wellington Cres:

  1. 30 km/h speed limit: 24/7 from May to November
  2. Traffic calming measures: diverters will be places along Wellington Cres to allow local access but prevent cut through traffic. Diverters allow vehicles to travel a few blocks before diverting to Academy Rd.

Diverters will be used:

  • 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. on weekends in May, June, September, October
  • 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. seven days a week in July, August

Traffic diverters will eliminate cut through traffic on weekends and in the summer when cyclist use increases dramatically. Diverter use will begin following the Spring Street Cleaning Program. We are presently waiting for boulevard cleaning to conclude.

The department will monitor the program as it rolls out and adjust as needed in response to the information obtained. Please feel free to submit feedback to 311@winnipeg.ca, attn: Chris Baker.

If Traffic Enforcement is needed, please call Winnipeg Police Non-Emergency at (204) 986-6222.
