Approximately 4,000 house across Winnipeg, including in Linden Woods, have been selected to participate in the pilot.
Food will be collected weekly on the same day as garbage and recycling, and be composted at the Brady Road Resource Management Facility. Collecting and composting food waste diverts waste from the landfill, reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
The pilot project will run through September 2022, during which time the City will conduct public engagement to evaluate the project’s success. Project findings will be provided to Council in 2023. For more information, visit: winnipeg.ca/foodwastecollection.
