Warmer weather has arrived, which means so too has our annual construction season.

Crews will work on nearly 150 lane kilometres of road, bridge, and active transportation infrastructure over the coming months.

Maintaining our bridges

A few bridges will see construction signs this summer. Rehabilitation work on the Pembina Highway Bridges over the La Salle River is continuing. Work will also begin on the Pembina Highway Overpass at Abinojii Mikanah.

Interim repairs are taking place on the Louise Bridge through the early part of summer. Then in fall on the Midtown Bridge at Donald Street.

Major road work ahead

Some of our major routes are also scheduled to get some road work done. These include McGregor Street (McAdam Avenue to Church Avenue) and Dugald Road (Plessis Road to Ravenhurst Street)

Construction is also continuing on Inkster Boulevard (Aikins Street to Landsdowne Avenue) and Westbound Abinojii Mikanah (St. Anne’s Road to River Road). Both those projects are slated to wrap up this year.

You can check out the multi-year Capital Budget for a full list of road, bridge, and active transportation projects.

Stay up-to-date during construction season

It’s shaping up to be a busy construction season. You can find the latest information on road impacts on our lane closures map. It shows all lanes of traffic affected by any type of closure (from utilities work to private construction to road renewals)

You can also check out road construction map. You can see all scheduled roadway improvements, their timeline, and their traffic impacts.

Find the fastest route

Odds are you’ll likely encounter road work at some point this summer. Consider downloading Waze to find the fastest route. Waze is a free, real-time traffic and navigation app. It shares traffic information from the our Transportation Management Centre as well as tips submitted by other drivers.

Nobody likes being stuck in traffic. We know how frustrating it can be when you encounter a construction zone. Please remember to slow down, remain respectful, and follow the rules of each construction site.
