Making Wellington Crescent even more attractive through planting wild flowers is on the way. I have supported a Winnipeg Wildflower Project with seed money of $2,000.00 in grants this year.
Look for their seed bed/flower bed on the south side of Wellington Cres at Omand’s Creek Bridge this year.
The wildflowers and grasses grown in these plots are all species native to Manitoba. Once the plants are established, seeds can be collected and shared around the community for urban prairie restoration. Come check it out, but don’t pick the flowers – the goal is to harvest the seeds.
