Are you looking for summer work?  We have a variety of seasonal jobs available. Each one is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience working for us.

Our Public Works department will be interviewing would-be staffers right on the spot at a hiring hall on March 11 at the Viscount Gort Hotel

They’ll be interviewing for two positions: labourer and student labourer. You must submit a resume before attending a hiring hall. You can do that by clicking the job title you are interested in.

Labourer

If you like spending time outside doing physically demanding work, consider applying to be a seasonal labourer. Daily tasks include weeding, grounds maintenance, as well as street and sidewalk repairs.

This job requires a minimum Grade 10 education or equivalent. Previous experience in landscaping or construction is an asset.

The Seasonal Labourer position tackles a variety of tasks, including grass trimming.

You can apply for the student labourer position if you are returning to post-secondary school in the fall. This job works in a variety of areas. You could be assisting traffic control, cleaning worksite, or doing grounds maintenance.

Please note that you must be a post-secondary student. High school students may not apply as the job begins prior to the end of the public school year.

The earliest start date is April 15, and the latest release date is September 15.

Gardener

A gardener works in a flower bed at Winnipeg City Hall.

Planning floral displays, planting, and caring for a variety of plans are some of the responsibilities of our gardeners.

Consider applying if you’re familiar with landscape plants and shrubs. A Grade 12 or equivalent education is required and you should be prepared to work in all weather conditions.

Recreation technicians

If you enjoy helping children and making an impact in your community, you might be interested in a recreation technician position. Every summer, we offer programming for preschool, children, and youth as well as operate several aquatic wading pool facilities. Around 200 recreation technicians, in addition to existing employees, are needed to make sure everything runs smoothly.

The positions are ideal for students. A minimum of Grade 10 education is required; however, a Grade 12 or equivalent with experience is an asset. Emergency First Aid or higher and a valid CPR Level C certificate are also required.

Recreation Technicians help us put on a variety of children and youth programming.
