Corydon Community Centre – Skating Program

Skating gives children a healthy recreational activity they can enjoy throughout their lives. Register for Learn To Skate here. For help with skater evaluation, email ckieloch@corydoncc.com.

Levels and Program Schedule:

Program Dates: January 7 – May 1 (no classes Jan 28 – 30)
Fees: $135 plus participation fee
Location: River Heights site, 1370 Grosvenor Ave

Parent & Tot: Parents must be on skates
Young skaters will start to develop balance and leg strength. Parents must be comfortable on skates.
Fridays: 5:00 – 5:30 pm *NEW*
Sundays: 11:30 – 12:00, 12:00 – 12:30, 12:30 – 1:00, 1:00 – 1:30, 1:30 – 2:00, 2:00 – 2:30

Level 1: New skaters comfortable participating on their own. Basic fundamentals of skating movement. Best for skaters graduating from Parent & Tot or new to skating.
Fridays: 5:00 – 5:30 *NEW*
Sundays: 11:30 – 12:00, 12:00 – 12:30, 12:30 – 1:00, 1:00 – 1:30, 1:30 – 2:00, 2:00 – 2:30

Level 2: *You must pass Level 1 before registering for Level 2*
Skaters are confident in standing and moving independently. Builds off Level 1 with a focus on body position and changing direction.
Sundays: 11:30 – 12:00, 12:00 – 12:30, 12:30 – 1:00, 1:00 – 1:30, 1:30 – 2:00, 2:00 – 2:30

Level 3: *You must pass Level 2 before registering for Level 3*
Skaters focus on refining basic skills and develop more speed in starting and stopping, and better balance.
Sundays: 12:00 – 12:30, 12:30 – 1:00

Level 4: *You must pass Level 3 before registering for Level 4*
Further skill refinement introducing more speed through stride length and recovery. This class will help skaters prepare further for other sports.
Sundays: 12:30 – 1:00

Learn To Skate – Power Skating:

Finished the Learn to Skate levels and looking for a challenge? Check out Power Skating!
Program Dates: January 7 – April 28 (no classes Jan 28)
Fees: $145 plus participation fee
Location: River Heights site: 1370 Grosvenor Ave

Pre-Junior Power Skating: *You must pass Intro/Elementary Power Skating before registering for Pre-Junior Power Skating*
Evaluations will be during the first few weeks and class transfers may be necessary. Full hockey gear is optional.
Fridays: 5:30 – 6:00

Learn To Figure Skate:

Program Dates: January 9 – May 1 (no class Jan 30)
Fees: $160 plus participation fee
Location: River Heights site: 1370 Grosvenor Ave

Intro Figure Skating: *You must have passed Level 4 Learn To Skate or be able to strongly skate forward, backward, turn, and stop*
Basic figure skating elements in a group format working towards figure skating fundamentals: edgework, spins, turns, transitions.
Sundays: 1:30 – 2:30

Basic Figure Skating: *You must pass Intro Figure Skating before registering*
Basic figure skating elements in a group format working towards developing their skills: jumping, spinning, edgework.
Sundays: 1:30 – 2:30
