The City will begin a combined sewer separation project, which will require the installation of a land drainage sewer. This project will begin in October and take approximately six months to complete.
The construction area includes:
These new sewers will help protect homes and businesses in the area from basement flooding and reduce the volume and frequency of combined sewer overflows into the Red River.
Once the work is complete, we will temporarily restore the road and boulevards, with plans to complete permanent restoration in summer of 2020.
Note; the construction on Grant Avenue will mainly take place in the south service road and boulevard parallel to Grant Avenue and not on Grant Avenue itself.
Vehicular traffic on Grant Avenue will not be affected except for some turning restrictions at Grant and Wilton, similar to what happened this past summer for the other construction works on Wilton Street and the side streets in that area.
Safe pedestrian access will be maintained along Grant Avenue, including at the intersection of Grant and Nathanial for students to get to Grant Park High School.
