New Bill and Helen Norrie Library Coming to River Heights

June 14, 2018

The Bill and Helen Norrie Library, formerly the River Heights Library, will be relocated and built in its new home beside the Pan Am Pool, a short two kilometres away from its present site.

More programming, more opportunities

The new library will allow for enhanced programming for all ages, flexible meeting rooms for the community and, best of all, space for more books! A new facility means the opportunity to focus on accessibility for all abilities while creating unique features like a reading garden and enhanced technology.

What’s old is new again

While we move forward to develop this state-of-the-art library, we also have plans for repurposing the existing building on Corydon Avenue. Working in partnership with Brock Corydon School, our goal is to fill a community need. I have heard many ideas from community members already including a daycare that can also act as a satellite library including a book pick-up/drop off space. The new library will be an exciting new addition to our neighbourhood, benefitting generations to come. As we continue to plan for both the old and new spaces, stay tuned for your chance to have your say on what our new library should look like during the upcoming community consultation phase. Until then, please contact me at 204-986-5236 or jorlikow@orlikow.ca and tell me more about what you’d like to see included for both spaces.
