City of Winnipeg to resume some services

Following the release of the Province of Manitoba’s Restoring Safe Services phased approach, the City of Winnipeg will be resuming some services.

Parks and Open Spaces

All City-owned play structures, athletic fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, and skate parks will open May 4th. However the Public Health oders that mandate social distancing of at least 2m, and gatherings of less than 10 people must continue to be observed.

Even though some services are resuming, social distancing measures are still in force.

Community Services

All City-owned recreation centres, pools, arenas, and libraries will remain closed. Options for opening libraries are being explored but there is not set date.

Golf Services

Kildonan Park, Crescent Drive, and Harbour View golf courses will begin open May 4th, and bookings open Friday May 1st 9:00am. To reserve a tee time contact the course directly by phone. Golf courses will be following provincial guidelines which including limiting the number of golfers, conducting pre-screenings, and enhanced cleaning.

Winnipeg Transit

Starting May 4th, transit will operate on a reduce schedule, offering Saturday service on weekdays. Passenger numbers will be monitored to determine and the number of buses in service will increase if needed.

Planning, Property, and Development

Guidelines and an application form for restaurants that wish to establish temporary patio space will be available on the City’s website Friday May 1st. Restaurants must follow provincial regulations, and temporary patios will only be allowed during Phase One of the Province’s plan.
